You Can Make Money With AdSense - Dispelling AdSense's Bad Reputation

You Can Make Money With AdSense - Dispelling AdSense's Bad Reputation

There is a great misconception about making AdSense websites as it has gotten a bad reputation in the Internet Marketing community. It is considered the ugly sister of making money online industry when it shouldn't be. Newbies complain they don't make any money from it but that is because they are applying a type of monetization approach to the wrong business model.

For instance, the majority of people who dream about making money online are bloggers. Blogging is the "in" thing to do and if the bloggers find out they can make money off it, why not? Consequently, they slap on AdSense and then they blog about their day to day lives and wonder why the money isn't rolling in. The answer is perfectly simple if you understand how AdSense works.

To be brief, AdSense is a program for website owners to make money by displaying Google ads. If their incoming visitors click on ads, the website owners get money for it for directing the traffic to a sponsor's site. It would only make sense that advertisers want interested visitors going to their site rather than just curious browsers. This is the exact dilemma you will face if your site is not focused on a particular topic. For one thing, it makes it hard for Google to match advertising ads to your site. Furthermore, the quality of traffic from the visitors is diminished because of the general nature of the site.

Let's face it, Google is in the business to make money so it will reward those who provide potential customers to their top advertisers. This can only happen if the quality of the site is good - this means sites that are on-topic. The problem is bloggers don't usually stay on topic or if they do restrict the scope of their site's topic, they chase after social traffic.

Social traffic is easy to obtain and it is gratifying. There are always other bloggers to hang out with and you comment on each others sites' and it's all fun and games at the beginning. Then it gets tiresome to juggle network friends and read their blogs and make comments in addition to writing your own article posts. And another thing is that friends don't click on ads because they are not looking for a solution to a problem. They are just on your site to be social.

There are a multitude of reasons why AdSense won't work for some people. First off, they have to make the judgement call if they are bloggers or Internet marketers. The latter creates sites to solve people's problems and then direct click traffic to the solution experts. Bloggers, on the other hand, are focused more on making friends and networking. This is not to say you can't make money from blogging but you have to use a different model than AdSense for that.

Google attempts to make their advertisers happy by matching the correct ads to the right websites. Since Google is so successful, how can there be any doubts that the program works? It just requires bloggers to change their mindsets on how to make money with AdSense.
